BA Grade: 55/Extreme

Bonemer is a strong athlete who should stick on the left side of the infield and has one of the most exciting power-speed combinations in the 2024 high school class. He was a standout performer during the 2023 showcase circuit, rocketed up draft boards and is viewed as one of the top prep hitters in the class. Listed at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Bonemer has a stiffer setup in the box that features a tucked-in front shoulder and a lack of rhythm. His pre-pitch movement was a concern for some scouts, then he started hammering most everything that was thrown at him. Bonemer fires his hands with impressive bat speed and strength and made consistent loud contact that translated into game power for home runs. He homered twice at Perfect Game’s National showcase against 93 mph fastballs and then was one of the better hitters at the Area Code Games, where he went 6-for-11 (.545) with three doubles, four walks and three strikeouts. Bonemer has plus raw power potential and is a plus runner who has solid actions on the left side of the infield. He’s played shortstop and third base and has more than enough arm for either position. He has solid body control for his size but could outgrow the middle infield and fit better on a corner, where he could be an above-average defender. Bonemer is committed to Virginia and is a day one talent with standout physical tools.

BA Grade/Risk: 60/Average
Adjusted Grade: 50
Track Record: Bonemer was a showcase star in the summer before his senior year at Okemos High in Michigan, and the White Sox drafted him in the second round in 2024. He broke camp with Low-A Kannapolis in 2025 and exceeded even the highest expectations. He batted .281/.400/.458 with 10 home runs and 27 stolen bases in 96 games to earn Carolina League player of the year honors before finishing the year with 11 games for High-A Winston-Salem.
Scouting Report: Bonemer has an advanced approach at the plate, especially impressive for a teenager. He’s made swing adjustments since turning pro, flattening his plane and improving his rhythm, which has helped him make better contact. Bonemer connects on pitches in the zone and has a knack for finding the barrel with above-average bat speed. He should get to plus power at his peak. At times, Bonemer has inconsistent separation in his load but has shown the aptitude for continuous improvement. Questions remain as to his ultimate position. He likely will not stay at shortstop, especially with 2025 first-round pick Billy Carlson coming up behind him. Bonemer can be an average defender at third base, where he spent some time late in the season. He makes the routine plays, and his average arm will be enough for the position, but some observers believe he eventually could wind up in the outfield. An average runner, Bonemer stole 29 bases in 37 attempts, but he may slow down to fringe-average as he matures physically.
The Future: While Bonemer faces questions as to his ultimate position on the field, his bat is real and profiles him as a potential above-average regular. He’ll return to High-A Winston-Salem in 2026 and has a chance to reach the upper minors later in the season.

Track Record: Bonemer is another example of a recent draft picks who played on the White Sox team at Area Code Games in the year before their draft. He follows Noah Schultz and George Wolkow. Bonemer put himself on the draft map with his performance in the summer of 2023, both in his time at Area Codes and also when he homered twice at the Perfect Game National showcase. A strong athlete who should stick on the left side of the infield, Bonemer had one of the most exciting power-speed combinations in the 2024 high school class. The White Sox selected the Michigan high school product in the second round, signing him for a bonus just under $3 million to pull him away from his Virginia commitment. He stayed behind at the White Sox’s complex to compete in the bridge league, impressing observers with his strong bat and ability to handle shortstop.
Scouting Report: Bonemer has a chance for above-average tools across the board, with physicality that stands out. While the swing can look a little stiff at times, he manages to manipulate the bat enough to get to the barrel with above-average bat speed, and he shows a solid knowledge of the strike zone. Bonemer is an above-average fielder at shortstop, with an arm that plays up thanks to a quick transfer. Whether he stays at the position or moves to third base will depend on how his body develops, as is the case with any teen shortstop. Regardless, he’ll stay on the left side on the infield. Bonemer stands out for his on-field makeup.
The Future: Bonemer will get a full-season assignment in 2025, likely going to Low-A Kannapolis. His makeup, physicality and solid body control may be a sign that he could move a bit faster than most high school players in their first full seasons.
