Tampa Bay took a shot on Bellati as a projectable high school righthander in the 12th round back in 2009. Since then, he's slowly climbed the minor league ladder. In 2012, he transitioned to the bullpen, and he found success at each level of the minors since then. He gave the big league bullpen a boost in 2015, with spot relief appearances in May, June and July, but really showed the Rays what he could do in September. His power fastball sits in the mid-90s, touching as high as 96 mph. Bellatti has two strong offspeed pitches to complement his fastball, a changeup and a slider. His changeup flashes above-average fade, and can be an out pitch for him against lefthanded batters, though he throws it to righties as well. Bellati's slider is a late bender with short downward dive. In 2016, Bellatti has a chance to earn even more innings in the big league bullpen, but because he has options he'll likely ride the Triple-A Durham shuttle.
