Youngest Players By League, August 2022

As the MLB and MiLB seasons head into their final months, we update the youngest players in every affiliated league on active rosters. Players on the injured list or any other non-active status are not included.

MAJOR LEAGUES

At the major league level, a couple of remarkable items stand out. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains the 10th youngest player in the American League. New Padres outfielder Juan Soto remains the 15th youngest player in the National League. The 10 National League hitters who are younger than him have combined for 509 hits in the majors. Soto has 570 hits himself.

TRIPLE-A

At the Triple-A level, the International League's youngest players are a number of the best prospects in baseball.  The youngest player in the Pacific Coast League, Kervin Pichardo, is a different case. Pichardo was traded to the Padres at the end of March. The shortstop/third baseman was promoted to Triple-A El Paso from Low-A Lake Elsinore in mid-July as a fill-in. He has hit .214/.347/.336 for his career and had played one game above Low-A before this recent promotion. He's likely to head back to a more appropriate level when the Padres make other moves.
