USA Baseball Announces 2022 18U National Team Roster

USA Baseball announced the 2022 18U National Team roster Friday evening, after completing five days of training camp in Fort Myers, Fla.

The 20-man roster will represent the United States in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 World Cup, which takes place from Sept. 9-18 in Bradenton and Sarasota, Fla.

The complete roster can be viewed below, with rankings from our 2023 MLB draft rankings in parentheses, where applicable:

“We are really excited about the group we are bringing to represent our country next week in Florida,” said 2022 18U National Team manager Denny Hocking in a USA Baseball release. “This Training Camp roster was extremely competitive and talented, giving us the opportunity to put together a strong roster at every position. The mission is to protect our home soil and win the World Cup, and this group gives us a great chance at accomplishing that goal.”

Blake Mitchell, who is listed as both a catcher and a righthander, returns to the 18U National Team after making the 2021 team as a two-way player, and the 20-man roster includes three other players who have suited up for Team USA in the past. Aidan Miller played for the 12U and 15U National Teams, while both Colt Emerson and Gavin Grahovac played together on the 2017 12U National Team that won a gold medal in Taiwan.

The roster includes 11 players currently ranked among the top 100 draft prospects in the class, led by outfielder Max Clark (No. 1) and infielder Kevin McGonigle (No. 7).

The 2021 18U team featured four players who went on to become first-round selections in the 2022 draft (Jackson Holliday, Druw Jones, Termarr Johnson and Elijah Green) and similarly, the 2022 roster features four players currently ranked among the top 30 players in the class: Clark and McGonigle as well as infielder Dylan Cupp (No. 13) and infielder/outfielder Aidan Miller (No. 25).

Team USA will begin pool play on Sept. 9 against the Netherlands at 7 p.m. ET.
