Twins Play Host To Potential No. 1 Pick Hunter Greene

With the big league team on the road Friday, the Twins hosted Hunter Greene at Target Field, and as usual, Greene put on a display.

While Greene hit .324 this spring for Notre Dame High with a team-best six home runs in 102 at-bats, he puts on power displays in workouts, as was the case Friday, according to several sources. The Twins’ front office brain trust was in attendance, including former big leaguers Torii Hunter and Michael Cuddyer, who are special assistants to the club. The ex-players were especially impressed with Greene’s power display and smooth, efficient infield actions.

Greene fielded ground balls at shortstop and threw a bullpen on the mound, hitting a reported 101 mph. None of this is new for Greene, who has put on incredible workout displays throughout his amateur career, including winning home run derbies. His talent puts him as the No. 1 prospect on the BA500.

Whether or not the display swayed the Twins wasn’t clear; one club official contacted about the workout and for reaction to BA’s recent Mock Draft merely said, “A decision has yet to be made” with the No. 1 pick.
