South Korea 2023 World Baseball Classic Roster

South Korea finalized its 30-man World Baseball Classic roster over the weekend.

Padres infielder Ha-Seong Kim and Cardinals infielder Tommy Edman, whose mother was born in South Korea, lead the roster as its only active major leaguers. Pirates first baseman Ji-Man Choi was originally set to play for South Korea in the WBC, but the Pirates blocked him from participating because of his offseason elbow surgery.

Kim and Edman will be joined by a host of former major leaguers who have since returned to Korea, including former Orioles outfielder Hyun-Soo Kim, former Twins infielder Byung-Ho Park, former Cardinals lefthander Kwang-Hyun Kim and former Rangers lefthander Hyeon-jong Yang. The roster also includes reigning Korean Baseball Organization MVP Jung-Hoo Lee, a 24-year-old outfielder considered a likely candidate to eventually move to MLB.
