Prospect Report: Walker Goes Wild In The Desert

Jordan Walker, 3B/OF, Cardinals: The Cardinals' towering top prospect is heating up as the AFL winds down. Walker slammed his way into a three-way tie for the league lead in homers by clubbing his fifth of the fall as part of a 2-for-4 day with a double in Salt River's win over Scottsdale.

Kumar Rocker, RHP, Rangers: After a, well, rocky beginning to his tenure in the AFL, the Rangers prospect turned it on for his Halloween start. In Rocker's unquestioned best outing of the fall, he allowed one hit over three scoreless innings with five strikeouts against no walks. He also threw 30 of his 45 pitches for strikes (66%).

Will Wagner, 3B, Astros: One of the better breakout prospects of the fall, Wagner has made plenty of loud contact but didn't have a home run on his card. That changed on Tuesday, when he went deep in a 2-for-4 showing with a double and a longball in his team's shutout win.

Jose Tena, SS, Guardians: Cleveland has a long list of middle infield prospects, and Tena is near the top. The 21-year-old is continuing his season in the Dominican Republic and went off on Tuesday. Facing Cibao, Tena went 4-for-5 with his first home run of the winter campaign. The output matches his production on July 13, when he went 4-for-5 with a homer against Bowie.

Elly De La Cruz, SS, Reds: Start your morning with a simple but accurate haiku:

Elly De La Cruz
The most electric player
In the minor leagues

Cincinnati's wunderkind lived up to that billing on Tuesday by going 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for his Dominican League team. The effort was De La Cruz's fifth multi-hit game out of the 12 he's played. Overall, he's 17-for-42 with nearly as many walks (eight) as strikeouts (11).
