Prospect Report: Spencer Torkelson, Riley Greene Hit Their Stride For Tigers
Spencer Torkelson, 1B, Tigers – Torkelson’s rookie season hasn’t gone as planned, but he’s at least finishing on a high note. Torkelson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored to lead the Tigers to an 11-0 win over the Orioles on Monday. Since the Tigers called him back up from Triple-A on Sept. 2, Torkelson is batting .280 with four doubles, a triple and a home run in 14 games.
Riley Greene, OF, Tigers – Like his teammate Torkelson, Greene is starting to find his groove at the end of the season. Greene went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs in the Tigers’ win over the Orioles. He is now batting .323 in his last 24 games.
Charles LeBlanc, 1B, Marlins – LeBlanc went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs in the Marlins’ 10-3 win over the Cubs. Selected off waivers from the Rangers last offseason, LeBlanc is batting .285 with nine doubles, four home runs and 10 RBIs in 34 games since making his major league debut.
Hunter Brown, RHP, Astros – Brown pitched three scoreless innings of relief to help the Astros clinch the AL West division title with a 4-0 win over the Rays. The rookie righthander has allowed only two runs in 15 innings since making his debut earlier this month.
