Prospect Report: Rutschman Stays Hot in Orioles Win

Adley Rutschman, C, Orioles - After a slow start to his big league career, the top prospect in baseball is finding his groove for the Orioles. Rutschman went 2 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Orioles to a 9-2 win over the Mariners on Monday. Rutschman started the scoring with an RBI single in the tip of the first inning and padded the lead with a solo home run off George Kirby in the third inning. Rutschman is now batting .327 with 10 doubles, three homers and nine RBIs in his last 15 games, welcome turnaround after he went 8 for 56 (.143) with zero homers in his first 15 games.Juan Yepez, DH, Cardinals - Yepez continues to prove he’s ready to be an integral part of the Cardinals lineup. The righthanded masher had two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Cardinals to a 9-0 win over the Marlins on Monday. He hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning off Pablo Lopez to blow the game open and added a two-run shot off reliever Richard Bleier in the sixth to pad the lead. Yepez is now batting .282 with nine home runs and an .833 OPS for the Cardinals, all of which rank among the best of NL rookies.Oneil Cruz, SS, Pirates - Cruz hit his first home run of the season in the Pirates 3-2 loss to the Nationals. The Pirates’ top prospect ripped a solo shot off Erick Fedde in the fifth inning to stake his team to an early 2-0 lead, only for the bullpen to blow it. Cruz’s homer left his bat at 109.8 mph, according to Statcast, and traveled 408 feet on a line over the right-center field fence.

Bubba Chandler, DH, Pirates - The Pirates haven't let Chandler play in the field this month as he focuses on pitching, but they are continuing to let him hit. Chandler went 1-for-4 yesterday with a strikeout in the Florida Complex League.
