Prospect Report: Heston Kjerstad Connects For Third Home Run Of The Spring

Heston Kjerstad, OF, Orioles:The 2020 No. 2 overall pick has been showing out this spring. The outfielder is now 11-for-23 with five extra-base hits, including three home runs. On Monday, Kjerstad went 2-for-3 with a home run off of Jackson Stephens in the sixth inning. If Kjerstad can carry this momentum through the end of spring training and continue to perform early with Double-A Bowie, he has a chance to debut this summer with the Orioles.

Colton Cowser, OF, Orioles: While Cowser’s spring training batting average hasn’t been anything to get excited about, his combination of on-base ability and power has been on display. Cowser connected for his second home run of the spring on Monday. He’s now hitting .211/.464/.526 over 13 games.

Justyn-Henry Malloy, 3B, Tigers: Acquired form the Braves in the trade that sent Joe Jimenez to Atlanta, Malloy went 2-for-2 on Monday, hitting a double off of Trevor Kelley. The double was Malloy’s first extra-base hit of the spring; he's now 3-for-11 this spring.

Addison Barger, OF, Blue Jays: Barger got the start in left field for the Blue Jays on Monday and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. He’s been a strong performer this spring as he’s now 9-for-29 with three extra-base hits and five runs scored. Barger was added to the 40-man roster this winter and could make his big league debut this summer.

Miguel Bleis, OF, Red Sox: Bleis got the start in right field for the Red Sox and came up with two highlight plays on the day. In the first inning, Bleis gunned down Brandon Belt at the plate by about three feet. Then in the second he hit a two-run single to the opposite field off of Alek Manoah. The young outfielder is one of the highest upside prospects the Red Sox have had in some time.

Gavin Stone, RHP, Dodgers: It’s getting harder and harder for the Dodgers to send Stone down as he’s dominated this spring. Stone went 1.2 scoreless innings on Monday, striking out three of the seven batters he faced. Stone has now gone 3.2 scoreless innings this spring while striking out six.

Prospect Report: Kjerstad, Dominguez, Walker Open With Bangs

Kjerstad hit two home runs, Eury Perez pitched two one-run innings and more.
