Prospect Report: Garrett Mitchell Comes Up Clutch For Brewers
Garrett Mitchell, OF, Brewers – Mitchell’s first career home run was a big one. Mitchell hit the game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to spark a 7-5 comeback win for the Brewers over the Pirates on Monday night. With the Brewers trailing 5-3 and a runner on first, Mitchell took a 1-0 offering from Pirates righthander Wil Crowe and sent it over the right-center wall to tie the score. Mitchell also recorded his first career walk and first career stolen base in the game and overall finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.
Corbin Carroll, OF, D-backs – Carroll made his major league debut a memorable one. The No. 5 prospect on the BA Top 100 hit a two-run double for his first career hit and helped the D-backs to a 13-7 win over the Phillies on Monday. Carroll finished 1-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs out of the No. 8 spot in the order.
Javier Assad, RHP, Cubs – Assad has yet to give up a run in his young big league career. The 25-year-old righthander pitched five scoreless innings with four hits allowed, two walks and one strikeout and took a no-decision in the Cubs 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays. Assad has now thrown nine scoreless innings across his first two big league starts.
