Prospect Report: Edward Cabrera Keeps Posting Zeros To Extend Scoreless Streak

Edward Cabrera, RHP, Marlins – Cabrera pitched eight shutout innings with two hits allowed, three walks and seven strikeouts to lead the Marlins to a 3-0 win over the A’s on Monday night. The 24-year-old righthander retired the final 14 batters he faced en route to the longest outing of his big league carrer. Cabrera extended his scoreless streak to 22.2 innings with the performance and has not allowed a run since the Marlins called him back up from Triple-A on Aug. 5.

Michael Harris, OF, Braves – Harris hit the decisive two-run homer in the fifth inning to lead the Braves to a 2-1 win over the Pirates on Monday. Harris reached base in all three of his plate appearances, going 1-for-1 with two walks and the homer. He is now batting .286 with an .833 OPS on the year and continues to establish himself as a frontrunner for the National League Rookie of the Year award.

Roansy Contreras, RHP, Pirates – Contreras pitched seven innings and allowed only two runs against the Braves but took the hard-luck loss. The rookie righthander needed only 89 pitches to complete a new career high in innings and lowered his ERA to 3.86 in 14 appearances (11 starts) on the year.
