Prospect Report: Brayan Rocchio Reaches Base Four Times
Brayan Rocchio, SS, Guardians:The Guardians No. 5 prospect reached base in all four of his plate appearances on Tuesday, with two singles, a double and a walk. Rocchio also stole a base and drove in a run, but unfortunately things weren’t as perfect on the other side of the ball as Rocchio committed two errors in the field.
Grayson Rodriguez, RHP, Orioles: The Orioles top pitching prospect was promoted to the major leagues on Tuesday and is likely to start Wednesday afternoon in Texas opposite Jacob deGrom.
Brett Baty, 3B, Mets: After recording a single and a stolen base in his first at-bat, Baty in his second at-bat seemed to injure his thumb on a swing and left the game following the plate appearance. He’s expected to have imaging done at some point Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury. This is the same thumb Baty injured last season.
Matt McLain, SS, Reds: The Reds No. 12 prospect has started the season scorching hot. On Tuesday he went 2-for-3, with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs. He made an error in the field, his second of the season. Despite his defensive shortcoming, this recent hot streak is a good sign for McLain, who saw his prospect stock drop over the last season.
Curtis Mead, 3B, Rays: After a rough first weekend, Mead broke out of his slump. He reached base three times, scoring three runs, driving in one and stealing a base. Mead is one of the top hitting prospects in the game but is hampered by questions around his defensive position.
