Prospect Report: Andy Pages Hits Go-Ahead Homer To Key Comeback Win In AFL

Andy Pages, OF, Dodgers – Pages hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning to kickstart a seven-run rally and lead Glendale to a 10-4 win over Mesa on Wednesday. Pages turned on a pitch from Yankees righthander Yorlin Calderon and sent it halfway up the grassy knoll in left field at Sloan Park to give the Desert Dogs their first lead since the fourth inning and send them on their way to victory. Pages later added an RBI single in the eighth inning as Glendale batted around and finished 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.

Thad Ward, RHP, Red Sox – Ward pitched three scoreless innings with three hits allowed, no walks and four strikeouts for Scottsdale in his final start of the AFL. The 25-year-old righthander threw 32 of his 44 pitches for strikes and didn’t allow a runner past first base. Ward finished 1-1, 2.84 with 15 strikeouts and six walks in 12.2 innings in the Fall League, completing a strong finish to the season after returning from Tommy John surgery.

Edouard Julien, Twins – Julien continued his quest for the AFL batting title by going 3-for-4 in Glendale’s win to raise his average to .400. He trails Yankees first baseman T.J. Rumfield (.415) by 15 points, but Rumfield has played in five fewer games and could fall short of qualifying standards if he doesn’t play the remaining games. Julien also boosted his OPS to a league-best 1.249 with the effort, more than 100 points higher than second-place Will Wagner (1.145).
