High School Top 25: April 6

Spring has sprung, and high school baseball is now being played in cold weather regions. Warm weather schools are deep into their seasons at this point, and there was quite a shakeup among the Top 25 this week.

The highest riser in this week’s rankings is South Dade High (Homestead, Fla.). The Buccaneers are off to a 16-1 start, lead by senior pitchers Alek Manoah, Kendrick Pico, Chris Gomez and Giovanni Fernandez. Manoah, a West Virginia commit, was an Under Armour All-American last summer, and he’s performed on the mound and in the batter’s box; he’s hitting better than .500 this season.

Two other noteworthy newcomers to the Top 25 are Mira Costa High (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Davis (Calif.) High. Mira Costa, lead by Georgia signee Will Proctor, won the Southern section of the Boras Classic. Davis, lead by UCLA commit Ryan Kreidler, won the Northern section of the Boras Classic.

These rankings are compiled via a poll of the Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) and Baseball America. Records are as of April 3.
