Gleyber Torres, Austin Voth Take AFL Weekly Honors

Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres and Nationals righthander Austin Voth were named Arizona Fall League players of the week.

Torres, the main component for the Yankees in the deal that sent Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs, hit .600 in four games this week with a double, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored. Overall, Torres, 19, is slashing .382/.500/.636, ranking first in batting and on-base percentage and second in slugging.

Torres hit .270 with 11 homers and 66 RBIs at high Class A Myrtle Beach and Tampa in 2016 and was recently ranked as the Yankees’ No. 1 prospect.

Voth, 24, threw five scoreless innings in his only start of the week, allowing just three hits and striking out three. Voth is 2-2, 6.20 in six starts this fall, with 20 strikeouts and eight walks in 24.2 innings.
