Florida State League Announces 2018 All-Star Rosters

With minor league all-star games less than three weeks away, leagues have begun to announce their rosters. First up is the Florida State League, which will play its game on June 16 at George M. Steinbrenner Field, the home of the 2018 Logomania-champion Tampa Tarpons.

At first glance, the highlight of both rosters is the North Division’s outfield, which consists of Reds Top 100 Prospect Taylor Trammell and three more exciting prospects in T.J. Friedl (Reds), Daz Cameron (Tigers) and Cristian Pache (Braves).

Trammell, 20, is hitting .299/.413/.487 with six home runs and 21 RBIs through 44 games with the Tortugas. Pache, long known for elite defense in center field, popped his first two professional home runs this year with the Fire Frogs.

The best numbers on the South side belong to Rays infield prospect Nathaniel Lowe, who leads the FSL in batting average (.374), on-base percentage (.451) and slugging percentage (.626). He also boasts a league-best 43 RBIs.

Daytona righthander Tony Santillan gives the North the league’s second-best ERA at 2.44, and ranks as the best prospect among his side’s stable. That statement comes with a caveat, however, because a few of the pitchers who made the list have already been promoted to Double-A, including Tampa’s Trevor Stephan and Michael King and Florida’s Chad Sobotka.

The South is led by Rays Top 100 Prospect Jesus Sanchez, an outfielder who this year has hit .337/.351/.522 with six home runs and 32 RBIs. He’s drawn comparisons to late Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras.

Jupiter’s Brian Miller has also made some noise this year, hitting .328/.364/.379 in his first full professional season after being drafted as a supplemental first round pick in 2017 out of North Carolina.

Clearwater’s Darick Hall, the FSL’s home run leader, snagged a spot on the North roster as well.
