Eastern League Makes More Changes To Yard Goats Schedule

In light of the continuing saga involving the city of Hartford and the still-unfinished Dunkin’ Donuts Park, the Eastern League on Wednesday announced changes to the Yard Goats’ upcoming schedule. To this point, the team has played its scheduled home games as the “home” team in road parks and, when it can, at Dodd Stadium, the Norwich, Conn. home of the New York-Penn League’s Connecticut Tigers.

Now, the Eastern League is adding other options to the mix. Hartford’s series with Richmond, for example, scheduled for June 21-23, will be played in neither Hartford nor Richmond. Instead, that series will take place at New Hampshire’s Northeast Delta Dental Stadium with the Yard Goats as the “home” team.

Their next scheduled series, originally to be played in Hartford against Erie on June 25-26, moves to Dodd Stadium. The teams will play a doubleheader the 25th, followed by a single game on the 26th. That series is followed by a traditional road trip against New Hampshire and Portland before another “homestand” starts on July 4.

Fantasy: Park Context Can Drive Perception Of Prospects

While a prospect’s overall value does not change in a different run environment, the *perception* of his value might change.

The stadium’s developers, DoNo Hartford and Centerplan, were fired earlier this week, meaning Dunkin Donuts Park will not be ready by July 4. There is also a strong possibility Hartford will spend the entire season on the road while the boondoggle involving the stadium is untangled.
