David Ortiz Wins Silver Slugger In Final Season

David Ortiz’s final season is among the best, if not the best, final season of any major leaguer. It got more recognition on Thursday.

Ortiz won his seventh Silver Slugger—presented by Louisville Slugger to the top offensive players at each position. The awards are selected by MLB coaches and managers. Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera also won his seventh award, while there were 11 first-time winners: Jake Arrieta, Mookie Betts, Charlie Blackmon, Yoenis Céspedes, Daniel Murphy, Salvador Perez, Wilson Ramos, Anthony Rizzo, Corey Seager, Mark Trumbo and Christian Yelich.

Mike Trout won his fifth Silver Slugger, while Jose Altuve landed his third and Josh Donaldson, Nolan Arenado and Xander Bogaerts claimed their second awards.
