Brady House, FCL Nationals — House, Washington’s first-round pick, has gotten off to quick start in his pro career. He homered on Monday, giving him three longballs in his first five games. Of his first eight hits, five have gone for extra bases. So far, Brady has started like a House afire.
Samuel Basallo, DSL Orioles — The Orioles inked Basallo, rated as the best catcher in the 2020-2021 international period, to a $1.3 million bonus in January, when he became eligible to sign. The 17-year-old has started his pro career strong, including a home run in his game on Monday. The homer was his fourth in just 81 at-bats.
MacKenzie Gore, ACL Padres — As he works his way back from command and control issues and mechanical inconsistencies, Gore went six innings against the Brewers team. He struck out seven and allowed two runs in an outing that tied for his longest of the season.
Will Bednar, ACL Giants — The Giants’ first-round pick from 2021 made his professional debut on Monday night, pitching a scoreless inning against the Rockies. His racked up his first career strikeout when he got Juan Guerrero to swing and miss to close the first inning. In a system thin on pitching, Bednar immediately checked in behind lefty Kyle Harrison as the organization’s top arm.
