2022 Arizona Fall League: Scottsdale Scorpions

The Arizona Fall League will begin its 2022 campaign on Oct. 3, the first day of six weeks of games in Phoenix. Preliminary rosters were announced today. While there are likely to be changes between now and Opening Day, this is the first version of the Scottsdale club, with prospects from the Giants, Angels, Orioles, Braves and Red Sox.

Top 100 Prospects: None

Intriguing Prospects: Giants outfielder Luis Matos opened the season among the Top 100 but scuffled for most of the season and dealt with injuries as well. Despite the struggles, he was one of just 11 players 20 years old or younger who reached double-figures in doubles, home runs and stolen bases while playing fewer than 100 games … Giants lefthander Carson Whisenhunt is one of two members of the 2022 draft class to play in the Fall League. He missed the entirety of his draft season while suspended from East Carolina after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance … Braves infielder Justyn-Henry Malloy is beginning to open eyes in the same way that current big leaguer Vaughn Grissom did throughout the course of this season. His 138 wRC+, in fact, is second only to Grissom this season among Atlanta prospects.
