2020 Seattle Mariners Instructional League Roster

The highlights of this group are Julio Rodriguez (who missed most of the year at the alternate site after breaking his left wrist) and 18-year-old wunderkind Noelvi Marte. Each member of the pair ranks among the team’s three best prospects. Outfielder Jarred Kelenic was left off the roster, but did get plenty of at-bats during summer at the team’s alternate site. The same is true for third baseman Austin Shenton, who made waves by hitting a ball over the batter’s eye at Tacoma.
Unsurprisingly, the Mariners included all six of their 2020 draft picks, even though some of them were at the team’s alternate site. The also brought trade acquisitions Taylor Trammell and Alberto Rodriguez. Righthander Juan Then is also on the roster. Then was an original Mariners prospect, then was dealt to the Yankees, then traded back to Seattle last season in the Edwin Encarnacion deal.
