2020 Chicago White Sox Instructional League Roster

The White Sox have released their instructional league roster, and it includes a former first-round pick trying to get his career back on track.

1B Jake Burger, the White Sox’s first-round pick in 2017, is on the roster after not playing affiliated baseball the last three seasons. He missed the 2018 season after tearing his left Achilles twice and the 2019 season with left heel pain. He resumed playing this summer in the CarShield Collegiate Summer League before joining the White Sox’s alternate site camp in August.

1B Andrew Vaughn, the White Sox’s No. 3 prospect, is the highest-ranked prospect on the roster. He will be a partial camp participant. LHP Garrett Crochet, the team’s first-round pick this year, is also listed as a partial participant but is currently a part of the White Sox’s bullpen. Players on 40-man rosters are not allowed to take part in instructional league with limited exceptions, as Baseball America reported Sept. 1

Top pitching prospects Jared Kelley (No. 6 at midseason), Matt Thompson (No. 7) and Andrew Dalquist (No. 9) are the highest-ranked players listed as full participants.
