Texas A&M remains No. 1 in the Baseball America College Baseball Top 25 after winning a series against Georgia.

The Aggies went 3-1 on the week and they won their sixth straight SEC series. They lead the nation in wins (38) and remain atop the rankings for the third straight week.

The top four teams remained unchanged for the second week in a row, as Arkansas, Tennessee and Clemson follow A&M. Florida State rounds out the top five.

The Razorbacks extended their winning streak at Baum-Walker Stadium to a program record 27 games before falling in the series finale to Florida. But they still won the series, claiming a pair of one-run games to start the weekend. In the opener, lefthander Hagen Smith (7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K) and closer Gabe Gaeckle (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K) combined to silence the Florida offense. In the second game, center fielder Peyton Holt played hero, first hitting the go-ahead home run to cap a seventh-inning comeback and then starting a game-saving double-play the following inning on a would-be, game-tying sacrifice fly. Arkansas will look to start a new home winning streak in midweek against Missouri State before traveling to Kentucky for a showdown between the SEC’s division leaders.

Florida State this weekend notched its most impressive series win to date, winning two-of-three at Duke. It got a pair of quality starts from southpaws Jamie Arnold (5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 9 K) and Connor Hults (6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K), but the difference-maker was arguably Brennen Oxford who on Friday spun 3.1 scoreless innings in which he struck out five. Duke on Saturday had runners on second and third with one out in the ninth inning, but freshman John Abraham induced a pop out and a lineout to secure the series. Another tough series lies ahead for the Seminoles who this weekend will host No. 13 NC State.

Freshman Jason DeCaro on Friday turned in the best outing of his young career, and spun seven shutout innings in which he collected eight strikeouts. On Saturday, Shea Sprague followed suit with a quality start of his own and allowed just one run on 4 hits across 6.2 innings. It was a week to forget for the Blue Devils who—after an 18-4 drubbing at Campbell—dropped their series against Florida State. Outside of Sunday’s 16-run outburst, it was a fairly quiet weekend for Duke’s offense. Its starting pitching also struggled, as across 14 total innings three starters combined to allow 13 earned runs. However, Duke was able to capture some momentum Sunday with a convincing run-rule win in which its offense swatted seven extra-base hits. Due to final exams, Duke’s lone action this week is a Sunday doubleheader against Longwood.

Kentucky this weekend dropped a pair of games for its second-straight series loss. Friday was an excruciating loss for the Wildcats. They led 4-1 going into the bottom of the ninth, but proceeded to surrender a trio of solo home runs. After taking a 5-4 lead in the 10th, they allowed a walk-off, two-run home run. Kentucky on Saturday won 15-13 in what was a rollercoaster of a game in which eight different hitters had at least one RBI, but lost 10-0 on Sunday in run-rule fashion. The Wildcats’ late-season gauntlet continues this weekend as they clash with Arkansas in a battle for first place in the SEC.

In Saturday’s series-clinching victory, Jacob Kmatz turned in an excellent start of his own to the tune of 10 strikeouts across 6.1 innings in which he allowed just one run. Following a midweek game at Oregon—a game that does not count toward the Pac-12 standings—the Beavers this weekend travel to Washington State.
