Alec Hansen was not the only Oklahoma junior to struggle to live up to lofty expectations. Elliott seemed poised to pitch himself into top-five round consideration this year as the 6-foot-7 righthander showed a solid fastball/changeup combo with a long track record of success. But Elliott went from beginning the season as the Sooners' Friday starter to being pulled from the rotation as he went 0-1, 8.10 in conference games. Elliott struggled to get his low-90s fastball down in the zone this season, and he doesn't have the stuff to live up in the zone when he's not generating downhill plane. His changeup is still a solid average pitch, but he has not shown the ability to spin a quality breaking ball.
