Brandon Gold

Originally a hitter for the Yellow Jackets, Gold has served as a two-way player for the past two years at Georgia Tech, but his future is on the mound. Gold enjoyed a strong junior season, and had pitched to a 2.48 ERA through 105 innings. He doesn't have plus stuff, but he sequences his pitches well and can locate his fastball down in the zone or above a hitter's hands for a chase strike. His fastball routinely operates at 88-90 and touches slightly higher. He can locate his changeup down and away from lefthanded hitters, though he has a tendency to drop his arm slot when he throws the pitch. Gold also throws a short, sweeping slider. He is a competitor with a strong track record in a power conference.
