Owenby was close to the top of some area scouts' draft boards, with his signability the big question mark. The Tennessee recruit has good size and improved his body from the summer showcase circuit, where he was a little soft and showed modest velocity. At times this spring, he touched 92 mph and regularly sat in the 87-90 mph range. Owenby also added power to his curveball, which flashed average potential.
