D.J. Burt

Burt is an enthusiastic, high-energy player with athleticism and some tools in a 5-foot-9, 160-pound package. Above-average speed is his best tool, though he is not a true burner. He shows body control and an arm that approaches average, but there is effort to his game at shortstop and he likely fits at second base or possibly center field long term. He has bat speed, natural hand-eye coordination and bat to ball skills, and sneaky power that can get him in trouble when he bails at the plate with pull-oriented swings. At the pro level, his power will play as below-average, mostly to the gaps. Burt is considered signable and is committed to Chipola (Fla.) JC after being committed to South Carolina earlier in his career.
