In a down year for the Gamecocks, Wynkoop was one of the club's few bright spots. The 6-foot-5 lefthander checks off plenty of boxes for scouts. He has a loose and easy arm action with deep extension out front, allowing his stuff to jump on hitters. Wynkoop doesn't overpower hitters with his fastball; the pitch has touched as high as 93, but works comfortably in the upper 80s. Wykoop has above-average fastball command, with the ability to navigate both sides of the plate. The next step for him will be mastering his command of the upper half of the strike zone. Wynkoop's best secondary is his slurvy breaking ball, which projects as an average pitch for him, competing in the strike zone with consistent bite and 1-to-7 shape. Wynkoop has some feel for a changeup and command of his arsenal. He has been a modest performer in the SEC for three years, and has the potential to develop into a solid back-of-the-rotation starter.
