Reilly Hovis

After a breakout sophomore season and a very strong summer in the prestigious Cape Cod League, Hovis was entered the spring as one of the top relief prospects in the class. At his best, Hovis pitched with command of a plus fastball and a plus slider. His fastball could reach as high as 95 with cutting action and his slider worked in the upper 70s with extremely late break down and to his glove side. Hovis was then bit by the injury bug in his junior spring, and ultimately needed Tommy John surgery. He pitched just three innings this season. A club could take a shot at Hovis, with the idea of getting a high ceiling talent at a lower cost but significantly higher risk.
