After serving as a hard-throwing but erratic starter for Cincinnati as a freshman, Lehnen barely pitched as a sophomore. So he transferred to Division II Augustana (S.D.) where he served as the team's co-ace alongside fellow junior Jacob Black. Lehnen's 93-96 mph fastball should ensure that he's easily the highest drafted player in Augustana history--a record currently held by 2016 23rd-round righthander Michael Letkewicz. Scouts see Lehnen as a future power reliever; while he's big and strong, his control and command are fringy. He throws a pair of breaking balls, but they blend together and neither is more than a near-average offering. He missed three weeks in March after leaving a game holding his arm, but he returned to action and showed no ill effects down the stretch, allowing one run or fewer in four of his last five starts.
