Sloan pitched as both a starter and reliever over three years at TCU and still managed to rank third on the team with 58.2 innings in 2025 despite making all 17 of his appearances in relief. A 6-foot-4, 215-pound lefthander, he has a unique profile in that he uses a mid-70s changeup as essentially his primary offering. It makes sense considering batters missed it 54% of the time in 2025 despite its high usage. Sloan’s changeup is a plus pitch with nearly 20 inches of armside run, but he will need to improve on his 88-91 mph fastball velocity. He also has a mid-70s curveball in his back pocket, and he dabbled with a shorter upper-70s slider at times in 2025. Sloan presently has just fringy command of his arsenal.
