Heidt was having a solid junior season (.335/.417/.482) but broke his hand in late April, clouding his draft status. A college shortstop, Heidt will likely move to second base, with an arm that plays around average. His glove should be at least average at second. Early in his career it looked like speed would be his carrying tool, but it has backed up and plays closer to average. Heidt has shortened his stroke in the last year and should have a contact-oriented bat with below-average power. He has the speed to steal double-digit bases and offers some on-base ability, with an 11 percent walk rate this season. The athletic 6-foot, 205-pounder offers some strength to his frame and is a gamer.
