Drafted in the 20th round out of a Texas high school by the Dodgers in 2010, Henderson didn't sign but stayed on the radar of scouts during two seasons at Grayson County (Texas) CC. After transferring to Oklahoma City for his junior season, he generated buzz when he opened throwing a 91-96 mph fastball and a plus slider. He wasn't easy to see, however, because he was shut down for six weeks because of scar tissue in his elbow (the remnant of Tommy John surgery earlier in his career) and didn't get turned loose in the Stars rotation until April. Henderson has a huge 6-foot-7, 250-pound frame and did a better job of staying in shape this spring.
