Poteet showed a loose, powerful swing from both sides of the plate and a projectable 6-foot-4 frame at the 2016 WWBA Championships. Scouts were split on Poteet this spring, with some loving his fluid wrists and projecting him to develop into a power bat as he matures. Other evaluators noted that he lacked timing and they didn't see him find the barrel often enough to take a risk on his offense. Poteet shows stiff actions in the infield and scouts see him moving to a corner infield spot at the next level. He's committed to Wake Forest, where he could boost his draft stock by hitting at the hitter-friendly Gene Hooks Field.
