  Across a fairly limited sample size last year, Bixby compiled a 4.50 ERA with 26 strikeouts in 18 innings. He has an impressive, high-waisted frame with present strength in his lower half. Bixby works exclusively out of the stretch and has a somewhat-deceptive delivery featuring an ultra-short arm stroke. He has big-time arm strength, and his calling card is a mid-to-upper-90s fastball that flashes carry in the top half of the zone. Bixby pairs his heater with a budding high-80s slider that has flashed sharp, late gloveside life.

  Bixby stood out at the Area Code Underclass games in 2021, where he threw a lot of strikes with his fastball, which sat at 87-91 mph and touched 92. His velocity has started to tick up a bit so where he’s more regularly sitting in the low 90s, with the potential for mid-to-upper-90s heat in there given how much projection there is left in his 6-foot-7 frame. Like most young, long-limbed pitchers, his command comes and goes, but he delivers his fastball with a steep downhill plane and it jumps on hitters faster than they expect. Bixby’s fastball is his best pitch right now, and it was in the low 90s during the 2022 summer, touching 94-95 and he also mixed in a mid-80s slider and has flashed a mid-80s changeup.
