Vastine took over the shortstop position for Vanderbilt in 2023, then had a strong Cape Cod League stint with Bourne where he slashed .306/.397/.430 and continued getting more reps at shortstop. He has developed into a reliable option at the position which boosts his light-power offensive profile that is more suited to an all-fields, line drive approach.
