Track Record: So far, Guerrero has met or exceeded the Rays’ expectations when he’s on the field. He just hasn’t been healthy enough. Guerrero’s 2023 season in the Dominican Summer League lasted just seven games before he was shut down with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He starred in the early part of the 2024 Florida Complex League season, but a recurrence of the shoulder injury limited him to 28 games. He has taken 126 at-bats in two seasons.

Scouting Report: When Guerrero has been on the field, he’s been excellent. He has massive power potential from the left side, but he’s a hitter more than a slugger, with advanced bat-to-ball skills and barrel control. Guerrero has already filled out, so there’s not a lot of projection to his power, but he doesn’t need it. His exit velocities already rank among the top 10 in the Rays’ system. He doesn’t have to sell out to get to that power, because he has a patient, disciplined approach and generates above-average contact rates. Guerrero will turn in plus run times, but by the time he reaches the majors, he’ll likely be an average runner. He plays plenty of center field in Rookie ball, but he’ll likely end up in right field eventually. He’s average there defensively with a plus arm.

The Future: Guerrero’s well-rounded offensive ceiling is comparable to Xavier Isaac. He has the rare combination of massive power and a potentially-plus hit tool. There’s plenty to dream on, but there’s also the reality that Guerrero hasn’t played enough for his warts to be exposed. He’s yet to see quality breaking pitches, and he’s a lefthanded hitter who is hitless in his mere 20 pro plate appearances against lefties. The jump to Low-A Charleston in 2025 should give him a chance to be challenged. If he stays healthy, he could vault into the Top 100.

Track Record: The Rays placed a big bet on Guerrero’s big power, signing him in January 2023 for a $3.7 million bonus that ranked as the fifth-highest in a relatively loaded international amateur class. There’s no need to really project Guerrero’s power. He’s already 6-foot-1, 215 pounds and hits the ball as hard as many big leaguers.

Scouting Report: Guerrero’s 2023 debut in the Dominican Summer League was cut short by a shoulder injury that required surgery, but not before he showed exactly what the Rays were expecting. He hits the ball exceptionally hard for a teenager, with 110 mph or faster exit velocities at his best already. What makes Guerrero an especially interesting prospect is he shows signs that he’s already able to combine quality swing decisions with that power to punish any pitcher who makes a mistake. Guerrero’s an average runner now with a plus arm that would fit in right field, but he could keep getting bigger and stronger, which likely means he would get slower as well. If so, his power and patience would fit at first base.

The Future: Guerrero should be fully healthy and ready to go for spring training. He’s more polished than many young international signees, but after playing just seven games in the DSL, an assignment to the Florida Complex League would be a possible but aggressive assignment.

His batting eye and timing should allow him to get to that power, as he has a relatively mature approach in the box. Guerrero's defense and athleticism are limited. He's already a below-average runner who is limited to the outfield corners, and may eventually end up at first base.

The Future: If Guerrero hits like the Rays' expect, his limited defensive role will not be a big deal at all. He'll head to the Dominican Summer League this summer to make his pro debut.
