School: USC Drafted/Committed: Never Drafted
Age At Draft: 21.2
BA Grade: 45/High
Hedges emerged as one of the more intriguing two-way prospects in the 2025 class after spending his first two seasons at USC as a hitter-only corner infielder. In 2025, he added late-inning relief work to his profile while continuing to post strong offensive numbers. Hedges slashed .346/.462/.619 with 14 home runs, 11 doubles, five triples and 10 stolen bases. He showed a balanced blend of power and plate discipline with a 17.4% strikeout rate and 15.3% walk rate. On the mound, Hedges threw just 15 innings but flashed big stuff in a brief sample with a 2.40 ERA, 19% strikeout rate and 11.1% walk rate. Hedges has real arm talent with a fastball up to 96 mph, a firm mid-80s slider and an upper-80s changeup that gives him a legitimate three-pitch mix. He has greater pro upside as a hitter, where he’s a gap-to-gap producer with solid bat speed and raw power that plays to all fields, but also has some real swing-and-miss questions against spin. Defensively, he profiles best at third base, where his plus arm strength plays well and his overall athleticism offers a chance to be serviceable. Hedges should fit in rounds 3-6 and has a rock-solid fallback option as a reliever if his bat doesn’t pan out.

Track Record: Hedges hit over his first two years at Southern California, then pitched in relief as well in 2025. Still, the consensus was that his clearer path to a pro career was with the bat. He backed that up by slashing .346/.462/.619 with 14 home runs, 11 doubles, five triples and 10 stolen bases as a junior. The Rockies drafted him in the third round in 2025 and sent him right to High-A Spokane, where he had a .537 OPS over his first 20 professional games.
Scouting Report: Hedges showed keen plate discipline in college with a 17.4% strikeout rate compared to a 15.3% walk rate in his junior spring. He profiles as a gap-to-gap hitter with solid bat speed and power to all fields, giving him the baseline tools to impact the game offensively. His body is already filled out, so it’s unclear whether much more power is on the way. Hedges’ first stint in affiliated ball with Spokane also revealed significant swing-and-miss issues against spin, and he’ll need to tighten his pitch recognition and adjust his swing decisions to better handle quality breaking balls. Hedges could develop into a steady defender at third base with good instincts and reliable actions. Unsurprisingly, Hedges’ plus arm is an asset on the dirt. He was up to 93 mph on the mound and complemented his fastball with a slider and changeup.
The Future: A return to High-A in 2026 is in order for Hedges as he embarks on his first full pro season.
