Adjusted Grade: 35
Track Record: The Padres drafted Sanabria in the 18th round in 2022 following an outstanding juco season at Indian River in which he hit .400/.471/.578. He proceeded to hit the ground running with an excellent pro debut in 2023 and has followed suit with productive 2024 and 2025 seasons. Sanabria spent all of 2025 with Double-A San Antonio where he hit .257/.309/.376 with a career-high 12 home runs.
Scouting Report: Sanabria is a first baseman through and through, which places a lot of pressure on his bat. So far, he has been up to the challenge. Sanabria has a solid hit-power combination, and in 2025 flashed above-average bat-to-ball skills to go along with fringe-average power. His in-zone contact rate of 86% and 90th percentile exit velocity of 105.7 mph were both impressive marks within the organization. Sanabria struggles with whiffs and chase tendencies against secondaries but does damage against fastballs. In 2025, Sanabria hit .285/.341/.448 with 18 extra-base hits against all heaters. Sanabria’s highest quality of contact comes to his pull side, but he has enough strength in his 6-foot-4, 248-pound frame to drive the ball to the opposite field. He handles himself well at first base and will stick at the position.
The Future: Sanabria figures to begin the 2026 season back in the Texas League, though he’s on track to earn a promotion to Triple-A El Paso. He’ll need to continue to hit and projects as an MLB depth piece.

Track Record: Sanabria was drafted in the 18th round in 2022 following an outstanding season at Indian River State JC where he hit .400/.471/.578 in 49 games. He had a productive first full professional season in 2023, hitting .341/.439/.573 with 23 doubles, eight home runs and 56 RBIs between the Arizona Complex League and Low-A Lake Elsinore. Sanabria continued his hot hitting in 2024 and earned two promotions to finish the year in Double-A. Across three levels, Sanabria slashed .288/.396/.427 with 30 doubles, 11 home runs and 78 RBIs.
Scouting Report: Sanabria has a strong build at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. He has a short and direct swing with above-average bat speed. Sanabria is a hit-over-power profile, though he has flashed some home run thump to the pull side. He has above-average bat-to-ball skills, and this season he worked an overall in-zone contact rate of 85%. Sanabria can be susceptible to swing-and-miss against spin, but he has a sound approach and solid understanding of the strike zone. A clear first baseman, there’s a lot of pressure on Sanabria’s bat.
The Future: Sanabria will need to continue to hit in order to outweigh his lack of defensive versatility. He handled himself well in his 32-game Double-A stint and could begin 2025 back with San Antonio.
