Baumler barely got onto the mound in the Perfect Game Spring League before the season shut down, but he still showed enough to be one of the biggest risers in the 2020 draft. The latest intriguing high school pitcher to come out of a cold-weather state, Baumler has a clean delivery, smooth mechanics and a good-enough 88-92 mph fastball that projects to add velocity as he matures physically. The 6-foot-2 righthander shows feel for spinning a breaking ball and has an advanced changeup for a high school pitcher. Projectable, polished high school arms without overwhelming present stuff could be a tough sell in this year’s shortened draft, so Baumler has a good chance of getting to campus at Texas Christian. Teams are talking about him, however, and interested.
