Warren is an instinctual player whose best assets is his defensive versatility and reliability. He entered Central Michigan as a catcher and also saw time at third base and first base as a freshman. The Chippewas needed a shortstop in 2019 and Warren ably filled in there, though he doesn't project as a shortstop moving forward. Warren doesn’t have a standout tool but is solid across the board. The switch-hitter has a pretty, consistent swing from both sides of the plate and showed he could hit with wood by batting .315/.396/.443 with eight doubles and three home runs in the Cape Cod League last summer. He has solid power, but it plays more in the gaps for doubles than over the fence for home runs. That could create profile problems if he becomes a corner infielder, but he's athletic enough to return to catching in pro ball. Warren has just average speed, but he’s an instinctual baserunner who went 17-for-18 in stolen base attempts in his college career.
