Drafted in the supplemental 2nd round (68th overall) by the San Francisco Giants in 2020 (signed for $597,500)
Glowenke has been a productive hitter for Dallas Baptist for three years and hit .296 last summer in the Cape Cod League. He’s a career .340/.433/.506 hitter who was batting .415 through 13 games in 2020 before the season shut down. After starting every game at shortstop in his first two years with the Patriots, Glowenke didn’t get a chance to play the field this spring because he was recovering from an elbow injury that required surgery in the fall. In previous years, Glowenke showed a middle infielder’s actions and reliable hands, but his fringe-average arm strength led to concerns he would need to move to second base. His below-average speed further leads scouts to believe he'll have to move off of shortstop in pro ball. Whatever questions about his defense, Glowenke is an above-average hitter with enough thump to reach double-digits in home runs. His reliable bat makes him a potential fourth-to-fifth round pick for most teams.
