Ian Seymour

A reliable but unspectacular starter his first two years at Virginia Tech, Seymour was starting to take everything to another level in 2020 before the season was canceled. Following a standout showing in the Cape Cod League over the summer, Seymour posted a 2.21 ERA with 40 strikeouts and five walks in his first four starts for the Hokies, including a 14-strikeout game against Georgia Tech—the most a VT pitcher has ever had in an ACC matchup. Seymour has a solid three-pitch mix, including an average fastball that touches 94 mph from theleft side, a hard slider/cutter that is developing and a changeup that flashes plus. Some scouts have concerns about his delivery and fear it will force him to the bullpen, but he throws strikes and has been effective as a starter throughout his career. Scouts and coaches alike praise Seymour’s competitive demeanor. He is in the mix to be picked between the second and fourth rounds.
