Chavez Young

Young was something of a pop-up prospect this spring. He's originally from the Bahamas, but attends a Christian school with a program for international students. Young's best tools are his above-average arm strength and speed. He has a plus arm and plus speed, with the ability to reach first base in 4.1 seconds from the lefthanded batters box. He earns positive reviews for his athleticism. Young is a switch-hitter, but scouts have said his bat needs to make significant progress. His lack of track record will scare some teams away, and he may be drafted and followed for the summer as a team tries to figure out his offensive ceiling. Young will turn 19 this summer, making him old for this year's draft class.
