Andrew Calica
Name: Andrew Clifton Calica
Born: Mar 5, 1994 in La Jolla, Calif. USA
High School: Eastlake HS, Chula Vista, Calif.
College: UC Santa Barbara
Ht.: 6'1" / Wt.: 190 lbs
Bats: B / Throws: R
Drafted in the 11th round (332nd overall) by the Cleveland Indians in 2016 (signed for $100,000)
Calica was a 12th-round pick out of college but wasn't drafted as a redshirt sophomore and wound up playing in the Cape Cod League, where he led the league in batting. Analytics teams will pounce on Calica as he ranked second in the Big West in OBP (.455) despite hitting just .263 thanks to 42 walks and 23 HBPs. He's shown more pull-side power this season as he's moved his hands a bit away from his body in his setup, freeing him up on the inner half. Calica runs average if not a tick above and can play center field adequately enough to profile as a fourth outfielder.
