Draft Prospects
De la Garza flew under the radar at the beginning of the spring because he wasn't a regular on the showcase circuit summer, but scouts quickly fell in love with his bat. He has a nice righthanded swing as well as some pop in his 6-foot, 180-pound frame. A slightly below-average runner, he'll have to move from shortstop to third base at the next level, whether that's Missouri or pro ball. His plus hands and solid arm strength--he has hit 92 mph off the mound--should work well at the hot corner.
