The Double-A Texas League lacked a slam-dunk top prospect this year, and most of those players who did rise to the top of the talent pool left before they even completed a circuit around the league. Five of the top seven players on this list were gone by the Fourth of July, with top prospect Mat Latos jumping straight to the big leagues and providing a glimpse of a brighter future in San Diego.

Eastern League Top 20 Prospects

Akron led the Eastern League virtually from start to finish, winning 89 games and then claiming the league championship by beating Connecticut in four games. The Aeros had a solid crop of prospects, with league MVP Carlos Santana leading the way. Santana hit three home runs in seven playoff games, supporting an offense boosted by third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, who hit .467 in the postseason.
