Game At A Glance: Cal State Fullerton-Oregon State

Turning Point: When Wes Roemer turned and watched Scott Santschi's wall-crawling homer in the seventh. Santschi's second RBI of the game gave the Beavers a working two-run margin, which came in handy. It was the seventh CWS homer Roemer has allowed in three career starts.

The Hero: Jorge Reyes did what other starting pitchers had not been able to do yet in the '07 CWS--leave the game with a lead that held up. He's the first starting pitcher to earn a victory this year with six crisp, powerful innings.

You Might Have Missed: Fullerton right fielder Nick Mahin not only drove in two runs for the offensively strapped Titans, but he also earned kudos from the right-field bleachers fans for his heroic work during the break between the fourth and fifth innings. Mahin saved at least three beach balls from destruction at the hands of the grounds crew, at one point employing a nifty spin move to shield the ball from the ground crew member, then tossing the ball back into the stands.
