Editor’s Note: Samuel Basallo was added after this was published. While Basallo is now on the injured list, he was active on MiLB Opening Day.

They say age is just a number, but when it comes to MLB players and prospects, those numbers can sometimes be quite interesting.

To that end, at the start of each new season Baseball America surveys every level of professional baseball to identify the youngest players in the game. Below, you’ll find the 25 youngest players in each league for 2025 from the majors straight down to Low-A.

Major Leagues

The youngest players in the major leagues at the start of 2024 are once again the youngest players in the major leagues at the start of 2025. Jackson Holliday and Jackson Chourio may have graduated from prospect status a while ago, but they remain younger than many of the top players in the minors. Chourio, for example, would be the third-youngest player in the International League and the youngest player in the Pacific Coast League.

Triple-A

Roman Anthony is a candidate to be promoted at any time if the Red Sox have an opening in the outfield, but for now, he’ll have to settle for being the youngest player in Triple-A. Luis Ariza, the second-youngest, is an odd case. He has just seven games above the complex league and has yet to play in a game for Triple-A Durham, but he is on the active roster as a backup/roster filler.

Double-A

Ethan Salas and Nelson Rada are both repeating the level, but they easily remain the youngest players in their leagues. Salas’ return keeps Sebastian Walcott from being the youngest player in the Texas League, even though he would be one of the youngest players in High-A.

High-A

The Padres have no concerns about pushing players to higher levels quickly. Shortstop Leodalis De Vries is by far the youngest player in High-A and would be the fifth youngest player in Low-A.

Low-A

Marlins shortstop Andrew Salas followed in his brother Ethan’s footsteps. He jumped straight to full-season ball this year, making him the youngest player in full-season baseball by 10 months.
